Soy Wax & Ingredients

What is soy candle wax?

Soy wax is a natural wax made from soybeans. It burns slower than paraffin wax, making it more eco-friendly and long-lasting. Soy wax candles are known for their clean burn and better scent throw, which makes them ideal for everyday use in your home.

Is a soy wax candle better than paraffin?

Yes, soy wax candles are generally considered better than paraffin because they burn cleaner and emit less soot. They also tend to have a better scent throw, making them perfect for a pleasant, long-lasting fragrance experience.

Are “non-toxic candle” claims real?

Non-toxic candles are generally those made from natural, non-harmful ingredients. At Lumine, we prioritize balanced compositions and controlled intensity in our candles, using clean ingredients to ensure a comfortable burn, especially for sensitive users. We recommend using our candles in well-ventilated spaces for the best experience.

What makes a candle feel “clean” (not perfume-heavy)?

A clean-feeling candle has a balanced scent that doesn’t overwhelm the senses. At Lumine, we design our candles with subtle notes, ensuring that they provide a gentle, calming fragrance that won’t feel overpowering in your home.

Do you use candle scent oil?

Our candles use carefully curated fragrance oils, designed specifically for candles. These oils are blended with soy wax to create a harmonious, long-lasting scent. They are different from essential oils, which are typically used for topical or aromatherapy purposes.

Yes, you can reuse our candle jars once the wax has melted. Clean them with warm water and soap to remove any residual wax, and they can be repurposed for storage or as decorative pieces.

How do I clean candle jars?

To clean your candle glass jar, let the wax cool completely, then remove the remaining wax using a butter knife or by freezing the jar. Wash the jar with warm soapy water to remove any leftover wax residue.

Burn Time, Room Size & Care

How long does a soy wax candle last?

The burn time of a soy wax candle depends on the size and weight. For example, a 550g candle lasts about 55 hours, while a 60g candle lasts about 20 hours. We provide burn time estimates on each product page, but it’s also influenced by how long you burn it each session.

What does “room coverage” mean (e.g., 15 m² / 20–25 m²)?

Room coverage refers to the ideal room size where the candle’s scent can fill the space effectively. For example, a candle rated for 15 m² is suitable for small to medium rooms like bedrooms or offices, while larger candles may cover up to 20–25 m², ideal for living rooms or open spaces.

Why is my candle tunneling?

Tunneling occurs when the candle burns down the middle but leaves wax around the edges. This typically happens if the candle isn’t burned long enough during its first use. To prevent this, make sure to burn the candle for 3–4 hours initially, until the wax melts evenly across the surface.

Why does my candle smoke sometimes?

Candle smoke can happen if the wick is too long, the room is too drafty, or the candle is burned for too long. To fix this, trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each use, and avoid placing the candle in areas with drafts.

How do I care for a wood wick candle?

For wood wick candles, always trim the wick before each use to ensure a clean burn. The wood wick may create a subtle crackling sound as it burns, which adds to the ambiance. Make sure to place the candle in an area with good airflow.
